Typographic Hand Lettering for Packaging, Logos and Advertising Design

This collection shows drawn logos for packaging and logos for clients including the Seattle Times, Alicorp, Hilary Duff, Post Foods, Fritolay, Budweiser and Armstrong Floors. I often start with a pencil or calligraphic ink study, but then I refine the work to become much closer to a font in appearance. I have shown a few iterations of some of these projects to give an idea of the creative choices involved. It is not unusual on a packaging project to do a dozen or more concepts in the first round and then several sets of variations to explore all the possibilities. Some of the samples in this typographic lettering collection are presentation concepts. For typographic styles I usually do a very tight rendering by hand, although sketches can be vectorized if needed. Final art is usually completed as an Illustrator file.
