Logo Design for Make-A-Wish Gala

A calligraphic logo for Dream A Little Dream

I was thrilled when WongDoody invited me to collaborate on the logo and signage for “Dream a Little Dream,” the Make-A-Wish foundation’s annual gala. The lettering designs I created were applied to pretty much any media you could think of, including frosting and ice.

I attended the event, and was amazed to see the logo in ice sculpture and recreated as crowns of ice and frosting on dessert, among other forms of signage.

calligraphy process for neon sign design

Three of the most delightful words to work with: Discover, Imagine, Inspire. I did many studies for the neon signs that ringed  the ballroom. Suspended above the crowd were brilliant paper butterflies, which I played off of in icons incorporated into the lettering.

An event like this is a huge collaborative experience. It is just a blast to work with people in set design, catering, print production and film to see a logo applied across all media. I was given a great deal of freedom on this project. The artists involved were trusted to step up and do their best, be creative, and it resulted in an electrifying night, funding another year of the Make-A-Wish foundation’s work with children.
